CrunchGuide ("we", "us", "our") operates the CrunchGuide mobile application and website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable privacy laws.

We collect the following data when you use CrunchGuide:

  • Recipes you create, including ingredients, steps, and images

We use your data to:

  • Provide and maintain the CrunchGuide service
  • Store and sync your recipes across devices
  • Enable AI-assisted recipe creation and modification
  • Send transactional emails (export notifications, account changes)
  • Improve the app through aggregated, anonymized analytics

3. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data based on:

  • Contract performance — to provide the service you signed up for
  • Consent — for analytics and crash reporting (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR); you can withdraw consent at any time in app settings

4. Data Storage and Retention

Your data is stored on servers in the European Union. We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all data is permanently removed within 30 days. Crash reports are retained for 90 days. Anonymized analytics are retained indefinitely.

5. International Data Transfers

Some data is processed by third-party service providers which may involve transfers outside the EU. These transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses and applicable data privacy frameworks.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share data only with:

  • Google — authentication, cloud storage, and AI services
  • Cloud infrastructure providers in the EU
  • Subscription management services (anonymized data only)

7. Cookies and Local Storage

The CrunchGuide website uses localStorage to store your theme preference (light/dark mode). We do not use tracking cookies. Authentication services use essential cookies for session management.

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access your data (data export is available in the app)
  • Rectify inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Data portability (export your data in a standard format)

9. AI and Automated Processing

CrunchGuide uses AI to assist with recipe creation and modification. AI processes your chat messages and recipe data to generate suggestions. No automated decisions with legal or significant effects are made based on your data.

10. Children's Privacy

CrunchGuide is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
